Dear Exclusive Tents

Dear Exclusive Tents,

I have been interested in some of your tents for a resort that we are planning on creating for a while now, and I would really like to know more about any and all foundation recommendations that you may have for us toconsider when preparing our land for such an establishment.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your valued inquiry. Building a resort from the ground up can seem a bit overwhelming at times with all of the options and decisions that need to in place for a resort to properly come together. Here at Exclusive Tents we are more than happy to provide suggestions based upon our own and past clients experiences to make the entire process seem painless.
As for a proper foundation to our tents this is a huge factor to consider when choosing to establish a tented retreat. Each one of our designs do need to be secured to a solid base except for The Budget Serengeti Tent. For the inside tent flooring we do have a few different options we can suggest.

Preferably our tents require a wooden deck for them to be built on. A concrete slab or flagstone will also suffice. We do offer a pvc groudsheet, but strongly suggest going with a wooden decking for a few reasons. The main reason we suggest a wooden decking/platform over the pvc groundsheet is because it gets very scruffy and wears through with time and is not easy to replace. So the longevity of the wooden decking is normally recommended. A concrete slab or flagstone will also suffice.

The deck component can be the easiest or most contentious, as everyone has their own ideas and a creative side. Also some folks may bring in an architect into the mix, who will be able to make things more interesting, and at times more costly. Be reminded that in many instances the deck or platform supporting the tent may turn out more costly than the tent itself. The platform can also be made of concrete, a mix of stone, brick, and mortar, but at the end of the day, one would like to create a base that is rigid and strong enough to support the tent. We like to suggest that one tries to avoid rectangles and squares, however, this is not always possible due to budget constraints.

Happy Friday!

Link Love

*Link Love

Happy Monday,

For this weeks link love were taking you back to a resort that we were a part of, which was established a few years back and was one of the most detailed and complex layouts for a glamping resort still to this day. A one of a kind resort doesn't even begging to describe the unique features and overall layout for this retreat. Now for a behind the scenes look into one of the most eco and water friendly resorts in the world that which is The 4 Rivers Eco Lodge located in Cambodia.

The 4 Rivers Floating Lodge was completed in 2009, and is made up of 12 Kingfisher Tents used for lodging, 1 Fish Eagle Tent as a reception/dining area, and also includes a Bateleur Tent used as a library. All of the tents are built entirely on custom decking which float soothingly on top the waters of the The Tatai River. The combination of both the tents and the decking completely enable you to truly be consumed by the tranquility of the river as well as the seemingly endless rain forest.

With in the past few years The 4 Rivers Floating Lodge has lived up to its name as a one of a kind resort, and made its way into many articles and even was Included in a segment on The Getaway's Travel Channel out of Australia.

"Dear Exclusive Tents"

Dear Exclusive Tents,

I am really interested in some of your safari style designs such as The Serengeti Tents. I am however a little unsure what the major difference’s are between The Serengeti Tent’s and The Budget Serengeti Tent’s if any? Would you please help clarify.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your valued inquiry. I would be more than happy to explain the major differences between the Serengeti tent design and our Budget Serengeti tent option. Although they are virtually identical in design and size, there are a few things that separate the two.

The main difference between the Budget Serengeti tents, and the 4,5,6 Leg Serengeti Tent are as follows:

1)  The Budget Serengeti tents are unable to be customized. Unlike our other designs which allows you to choose colors, and window and door placements, the Budget Serengeti comes only in olive green canvas body, green screened windows, and set door and window placements. (For point.
2) The Budget Serengeti Tents are the only design we offer that do not need to be set onto a platform/decking, and is the only design that comes standard with a stitched in PVC floor.

3) The Budget option comes only with a canvas fly sheet. Where as the 4,5,6 Leg Serengeti Tent’s come with a multi layer roofing system, which includes the 80% shade fly, and pvc rain fly. The canvas fly sheet’s included with the Budget option are water proof.

4) The diameter of the steel framing is thinner on the Budget Serengeti tents, and the GSM rating of the canvas is of a lower grade than the standard 550 for all other designs.

Choosing the best option is difficult. It depends on the overall vision of your project, time lines, and budget. Hopefully this will help you in choosing the best design to suit the overall glamping experience you are trying to create.

Set Up Update: UAE Project

Set Up Update: UAE Project

Paul within the past few months has been working and traveling diligently back and forth for our client in the UAE assisting with the set up of the very large custom tents.

There will be a total of 4 custom designs over all, the first and largest of the bunch has a tent space of 1,165 sq. m (12,529 sq. ft!) and will serve multiple purposes for clients as a reception/lounge/kitchen tent. Another one of the larger custom designs will be used as a vip tent standing at a total of 350 sq. m(3,767 sq. ft.). Also included are a total of 7 smaller tents that will be used as lodging for guests. As of right now none of the tents are completely set up, we will keep you all updated as the set up continues.

With the tent site being in the heart of the desert among the endless sand dunes set up has been very challenging to say the least. Despite the heat ( some days reaching upwards of 120 degrees ), other difficulties to face are battling the winds and sands which kick up and seem to aim directly for the teams eyes and orifices, none the less not the most pleasant conditions to work in. Again the wind became a challenge making it incredibly difficult to balance the tent bodies prior to fixing them to the base or platform.

Our biggest obstacle yet with the project has been meeting the very tight time lines on all these bespoken designs, as it is virtually impossible to predict production times against custom designed tents. Also difficult has been integrating the external brick and mortar WC structures into the tents but this too was finally mastered. Ultimately it was having to work in and around an unfinished base that was most difficult with the set up of the vip tent.

Please keep an eye out for more set up updates to follow for our UAE project as well as many others that are in the works.

We hope everyone is enjoying their friday and looking forward to the weekend that lays ahead.
